Tuesday, 3 May, 2016 – Mainz
This is really our only full day in this neck of the woods. Mainz is a modern city outside of Frankfurt. We had received an email overnight from our Airbnb host, Karim, Who suggested a great place for breakfast but also pointed out that there was a farmers market on in the city near “The Dome”. We find the breakfast place easily:
Sadly we were out “too early”, being 8:00 AM, things seem to start a bit later over here. So we depart and try to find the farmers market. Again we did that pretty easily. There were a large number of stalls in a lengthy mall type area as per below.
We grabbed a coffee and sat at some tables outside a place of some reknown I guess:
We were talking about what to finally do for breakfast. She had seen a sign for a wild burger:
So, it was decided she would get one of those for me. There had not been a seafood stall at the market but the idea was that she would go to a supermarket to buy some smoked salmon and then construct a roll with a pastry from the market. Off she went. While she was away, two seafood trucks showed up which she noticed. After quite a while she showed up again with:
and then went away again and came back with:
It has gotten cooler and there is a little bit of drizzle in the air so we decide to go back to the apartment. Along the way we passed:

Back to the apartment and Julie goes prancing again for a few hours. I alternate between working on the Blog and napping and then read a magazine as Julie comes home. She has got tickets for an airport train tomorrow and it is apparent that we will have to leave quite early. The following are some of the photos she took while out prancing.
We have a drink on the balcony and then go out to a restaurant just across the park. It is a massive place with a large wine cellar and apparently over 400 seats. The Lady proprietor was very helpful, showing us around the restaurant and then guiding us through the wine selection. We settled in.
We have a very early start tomorrow to get to the airport so it is back to the apartment and early to bed.
