Exploring Turku

Thursday, 4 October, 2018 – Weather – Good, unseasonably warm

Loyal followers of this Blog. If you find yourself in a situation where you cannot see the photos and / or the captions or alignments are messed up, please go to http://www.beauperi.com directly and all those problems should go away.

Turku is the original Finland Capitol. It is a quaint old village, nice. We get a good sleep and go out to tour around the town. After several blocks of walking we end up at an outdoor market. Some snaps from there.

Salmon
Fruit
More salmon
Lingon Berries – famous in Finland
Oyster Varieties

I had a long chat with this guy and told him about the Blog. He said that he would be famous world wide, and I agreed. Sorry, I did not get his face in the photo. But please visit his cart next time you are in Turku.

Julie perusing
Snags galore
Just perfect for Tanika
Sandwich making material
More sweet stuff
Julie left the market and went into the Tourist Bureau
This old brewery had become a food court

We walked around the place for ages. Eventually, at Julie’s suggestion, I had:

Finnish Meatballs, made from ground beef, not very special
Julie had seafood soup, coffee and most of my vegies
Front entrance to the food hall
The shop from where the doner kebab came last night

Back to the apartment.

They had cut a secret passage to get through to the kitchen
Ryan and I had an IPA tasting, different but pretty good
Julie went back and got food for us. It doesn’t take a genius to work out what the cuisine was.
Vietnamese curry for me, nice and spicy
Salad and Whiskey for Julie

Enough for a very busy day.
