It is our last full day in Oslo and the weather looks OK. We start with the usual breakfast.
Turkey, Mushrooms and eggs
Firstly, a couple of shots from Julie.
International bridge of the year, yes we do bridgesWhiskey without Alcohol???
So I go out on my own. I make a major move by crossing the street to the shopping centre opposite, waiting for the pedestrian signal, of course.
End up in a food courtMy ultimate destinationA Bacon Whopper with no sign of any bacon
After all that excitement and adventure, I decide I have had enough so aim to return home. I cross one street and proceed around but that was really the wrong way to go However, I kept going around and ended up at the back of the Hotel, phew! Now a couple more snaps from Julie.

Julie returned and it had started to rain, but she had planned for it. We go down for dinner, again a soup would have done me.

Yes, the weather has definitely turned for the worse. We had been really lucky with the warm weather in what should have been quite cold and wet in this Arctic environment. But all good things must pass. So I decided I would not leave the Hotel this day. We started the day with the buffet breakfast:

Again it is a beautiful day. After a pretty good breakfast buffet, Julie goes over to the train station and buys each of us an all day travel pass. Eventually we go to the station and jump on a train that is going to the peak behind Oslo.
Our Train Pulled up short of where we were standingRyan on the train with obscured Julie behind him
The idea was to see the Ski Jump and the view of Oslo from up above. We actually never saw the ski jump.
We did not stay long at the peak and took the same train back down the hill. There were lots of ski lodges and expensive houses up there.
Impressive Ski Lodge
We get off the train with the intention to walk to the nearest tram stop. It is a fair bit away. After a coffee stop, we continue on and we stop at a site.
Impressive Water Fountain and StatueThis Site is all about naked Men
There is also a site about naked women protesting including, apparently, a signature statue of a woman taking a pee in protest?? There may even be a third site for transgender folk. We decided the one would be enough.
What a guy!
We cross over the water and reach a tram stop relatively close by.
Our tram arrivingOn the crowded tram
The destination is the fish market / food court. We get off the tram but it is a fairly long walk. Ryan eventually guides us there with his phone.
I had heard from my Scandinavian work colleagues when I spent time in Stockholm that the Norwegian girls were the best looking in the world. I was quite skeptical but as I spotted various talent around, I reached the same conclusion.

We walk out of the food hall and go to look at the large waterfall behind.
Lots of water, not much fall
Ryan and Tanika headed off on their own and I did not really see them again until Saturday morning when we left town. We took the long walk back to the Tram and then home.
When we went to dinner that night I was not very hungry at all. There was a somewhat spicy Thai soup which was just what the doctor ordered and an early bed after a very filled day.

No this is not about Javier Barden going around killing everybody. Instead, we are going to Norway, which is a country I have not been to before. In fact, on this trip there will be three new countries, Denmark, Norway and Luxemburg.
We head to the train station and get there early as usual. Eventually we are able to board, and not for the first time, the seats assigned to the kids do not exist. A bun fight occurs, as usual, but after much hassle we end up in the back of the carriage in a small area with two desks seating. We manage to hold onto that for the whole trip although the train eventually became quite full except for our 4 spare seats.
For what ever reason, we took no photos of the journey. Worth relating was a visit by the “military” after we crossed into Norway. There was a big, strong woman with a big gun. Then there was a woman with a drug sniffing dog. Then there was an even bigger guy, the leader, with an even bigger gun. There were several questions but no problems.
After 4 hours and 15 minutes, we arrive in Oslo. We walk from the station to our Hotel with the kids dragging the bags over cobblestones etc. Again, no photos were taken of the journey or the Hotel. It is quite different from the last place as this is a very modern building with new furniture etc.
The Bed with bathroom to rightThe Lounge Chairs and Suitcase storage. Note the attic windows as we were near the top floor
We were initially in a much smaller room but the kids kindly swapped with us.
The Hotel offered free breakfast and dinner. We went down for the dinner.
Beef casserole tonightThe salads and cold cuts were also pretty goodThe Guys enjoying their dinner
That was the end of the evening for us. big day coming tomorrow.

After another good buffet breakfast, we decide to go to the local fish market which Julie had visited before.
Julie entering the fish market
There was only one stall open in the market which seemed strange.

I went back to the Hotel room to do more Blogging. In the mean time, Julie pranced all over town and found some Aussie wine.

In the mean time, the kids have made there own way around town.

The effect was created by adding dry ice to standard drinks. Julie goes out later to get take way food for us.

Julie brought back two long bread rolls each half filled with school prawns and half with well picked Crab. Spot on. We had a picnic of sorts in our hotel room.
