Wednesday, 30 April
We head out in the morning to go into San Francisco. Our first stop is for Ju;ie and I to take a cable car ride.
We get off at Lombard Street and are met by Pat and Tom. Lombard Street at this point is the windiest street in the world.
We then drive to the base of the Golden Gate bridge, city side. I actually have been to the bridge many times but this a first here.
We drive across the Bridge and further up into Marin County. We stop at a beachside town, Tiburon, and select a nice restaurant there – Sam’s Anchor Cafe.
It was an absolutely beautiful day, somewhere in the early 90s. In April?? Any way, we needed to sit inside because it was too hot in the sun outside. There was shade for the wait staff but not the customers. Hmm, a little strange.
We then go to Sausalito but a town that had always been too touristy had gotten much worse so I stay in the car. The girls do a quick walk along the length but I am not sure if they stopped in anywhere. We were going to be given the opportunity to take the Ferry across the Bay from there but I decide I have had enough action for the day. We drive back over the Bridge and spend some time driving through Golden Gate Park. We then drive towards home.
Tom and Pat have tickets to Game 7 of the first round of the Ice Hockey finals with eir team, the Sharks, playing. They suggested that I go with Tom to the game but I declined and so Pat & Tom were to go. Julie and I decided we would cook at home so we went by a Whole Foods store to pick up more provisions. The guys depart and we do some minimal cooking.
We eat outside at their gorgeous patio. The weather is still stunning and warm and we stay out there until the mosquitos start attacking. Julie goes to bed and I am about to do the same when the guys get home. Sadly for them, the Sharks lose in the playoffs yet again, a recurring nightmare. Off to bed
