Last Days of Tour da France

Saturday, 20 June, 2015

Yes, this is the last full day of Tour da France. Where has all the time gone? It was only yesterday we were flying into Bordeaux airport. Any way, there are not too many activities for today either especially as there was little enthusiasm for the bike tour to another village.

Douglas is to put on another gala fest tonight so needs to head to the market again this morning. Colin Julie and Mouse join him but it is a classic case of Brown’s Cows before they finally get going.

Great tomatoes again
Cucumbers
Doug and Mouse considering the vegies
Sweets
Colin puts out the wines for tonight
Using a blow torch to set the candles in the candlelabra
Julie peeling onions for Doug
Mouse pitching in too
Doug rabbiting at the stove

There was to be no formal lunch today but the market troops bring back baguettes, ham and cheeses. As well, Michael and Di buy some sausages from the local shops.

The bright red sausages on the BBQ.
Mick, the Pit Master
The Perfect Lunch. Baguette fried on the BBQ in sausage fat, sausage and premium ham on top

I guessed that these were Merguez sausages and so it proved to be the case. North African in source.

Julie did not have anything – too many of the strawberries for breakfast
Rob and Chris before dinner from our balcony
Drinks and Canapes before dinner
Oysters+ for canapes
Toto and tonight’s wines
The Corks – the Grand Prize won by Jeremy
Jeremy’s Grand Prize
Stunning Mackerel Dish. The Mackerel was cooked by JV during yesterdays cooking class
Wine with the main courses
A rabbit based onion soup – unusual and great
The French chooks just out of the oven
Chook on the plate
Sauternes to accompany dessert
Panna cotta et al

Another excellent meal from Douglas Elder with a little bit of help from the participant’s cooking class from yesterday.

Well viewers, it has taken me six days to catch up to this point and finish this one post. I hope to do better with the Georgia part of the trip which is next but I am a long way behind. Until then ”””’
