16 September, 2018 – Second Day in Copenhagen, Weather Warm
It is a good looking day so we decide we will try the Hop On / Hop Off Bus Tour to get a feel for the city. While we were away, Julie stays back at the apartment to work on her presentation. We were going to go with a Red Bus company that we saw on the map we picked up from the airport, the main feature of which was strip clubs. We walk down towards the station where there is a drop off but run into a ticket seller for the other Red Bus company and decide to go with that. We buy a 3 day ticket.
We ride around for a while and decide to Hop off at stop 8, Nvhavn, which means New Harbour. In fact, it is the oldest harbour in CPH. We cross the river.
These were not very good at all. They had some strange flavour that I did not like, hard to describe but definitely unappealing to me. I was not having much luck with my choices of specialty Danish foods.
We then got back on the bus and took a long journey to the highlight (sic or is that sick) of the trip:
We then get back on the bus and take a long, tortuous journey back into town. Many streets were closed off due to construction and our journey was nothing like that shown on the map. We finally get off a long way from home. Ryan lead us even further out of the way to look at some restaurants etc. We finally stop at one.
Yes, it was me! I gave the cinnamon roll to Ryan but ate all the creamy, gooey stuff on top. The reason? It was hot chocolate with brandy, a good solid slug of brandy, quite strong.
We then took the LONG walk back to apartment through the financial and business district. At the end of that I was extremely stiff and sore and could hardly move. I voted that we go to a local place tonight and Julie found one.
I asked the waitress what KoD ment, thinking it was probably not “kiss of death” as we might have known. Instead it means meat.
I managed to struggle back home, almost paralysed. Tomorrow will have to be a better day.
