Quiet Day in Alencon

Tuesday, 16 June, 2015

We all seem to be a bit tired after the 5+ hour bus ride. Very little is scheduled for today.

Wild Asparagus that Doug found at a market
Lunch spread. Notice beautiful sunshine
On the plate. Nice Rillettes – Duck and Pork, chicken etc.
At drinks we managed to knock of this plus another bottle of Rose
The Back of the Chateau. Our room is behind the balcony with the red columns

The highlight tonight is Saltbush Lamb where the Lamb lives in an environment where it gets a lot of salt in its diet and as a result has much better flavour. It is also more expensive with the two legs below supposedly cost of the order of AUD250.

Saltbush Lam Legs in the oven

There is a wine cellar under the terrace and Charles Henri took some of the group into it.

1943 Bollinger – a real cherub
The Wine Cellar Entrance
Prawns – big and small

Lamb on the plate
Berries for dessert

A good first meal in Loire from Douglas. Off to bed as it is a very big day tomorrow.
