Sunday, 16 July, 2017 – weather starts grey but turns brilliant
Overnight Julie has made the decision to go to and book an upmarket place for breakfast. So we head out for the walk across town:
Not only is the restaurant called the Star but it has a Michelin Star – hence the headline of this Post.
The Star sits in a grand location with large gardens out the back and the patio which is right on the river.
3866 – The Menu
The mary has a bit of a bite to it but I can’t say that I can taste the horseradish.
Quite nice, well cooked. The patio is filling up primarily with casual diners while inside beautiful people are arriving including a “Trophy Wife”. We decide it is time to go.
We go back to the flat but Julie wants to get out prancing again, primarily to visit the “York Minster”, a very large cathedral in town.
Description of the York Minster
I guess you all know my love of cathedrals by now so I am including only a few of Julie’s photos.
Bah humbug, you’ve seen one church, you have seen them all.
Julie comes back relatively early, circa 6:00 and we decide we should go out and get something small to eat. We walk to the Shambles but all of the stalls are shut or shutting down. We consider our options, which are not many on a Sunday night, and end up back in the Golden Fleece again. There is controversy as we select the only available table inside which is a bit rough. Julie leaves it while I am at the bar ordering and someone else grabs it. She wasn’t happy with it any way. In any case we place an order and go out to the patio where there is actually a relatively satisfactory table there after all. The patio fills up quickly so our timing is good.
Interestingly, the bar tender had trouble finding wine glasses.
The salad magically moved from my plate and was replaced by a few chicken pieces. Julie tried some beef and thought it was OK. We have done very well considering and move out to head home.
